We had a beautiful day for the grand opening Ribbon cutting ceremony. It was a very exciting day to see this special Home open. We were happy to have Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg along with the Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio joined us for this event. It is beautiful how the Smithtown and Hauppauge community opened there arms to these children and this home for medically frail children.
Bob Policastro discussed the love the parents have for the children moving into Angela’s House. It is a love that never ends.
BORN UNDER A LUCKY STARAnthony Morrone of Horan, Martello, Morrone, PC of Hauppauge wrote a special book about a disabled boy. Anthony touched on the very sensitive insight into the mind and heart of a child who had been born severely disabled, and how as a child he grappled within himself why he was so afflicted. The book’s introduction goes on to say how parents have said that their disabled child turned out to be the greatest blessing of their life. Read More
On August 30, 1989, Bob and Angie Policastro's daughter, Angela, was born. She had suffered severe brain damage during birth leaving her very medically frail, requiring nursing care.
The Policastros received tremendous support while in hospital but they realized there were few services available to help them if they were to leave. The few services that were available were very fragmented and difficult to coordinate. Read More
